An ugly, dusty big book opens...

Tension 1 (morning): Establishing shot of the DLR station with business people and other people waiting for the DLR. (I want a steady cam attached to her entering the train to give the feel the camera is looking from her prospective) The women comes onto a DLR train, coming on the DLR like a tramp even a crack head, people look and stare at her strangely. (People talking about her/making fun of her, using split shots of different people’s faces and facial expressions), the women sits next to one person and he/she gets up and leaves and moves elsewhere, giving a negative look towards the other people who watches him/her leave. The lady is confused. There’s a slight pause where she humbles to herself (about why the person moved, confused) her phone rings and pulls out a latest ‘Iphone’ (a shot of the phone itself with her finger answering the call) and starts talking posh to a possible friend/family who is on the phone.

Tension 2 (Afternoon): Another example to add to the film is a misunderstood girl who has t-rex, I want to represent her as a ‘strange’ individual, other classmates talk about her and laugh at her, at comments that she randomly says to other people. One person in the class presents her work to the rest of the class (that person is standing, to show she’s more powerful than the girl with the disorder who I want sitting down to show she’s weaker, by this technique is to show status), the girl with t-rex knows that the girl presenting is one of the girls who make fun of her, so this point I want the girl to have a random t-rex moment where she reacts in a very rude way to the girl she feels make fun of her. I want a extreme close up on to her eye with slow motion of one of her eyes blink once, when the eye opens I want the camera to zoom out quick (almost like a flash) takes you into a white room which surrounds her I want to add ‘thought tracking’ so she can tell what she really feels, telling the audience that she has a disorder but no one in her class knows and understands her problem). White room to connote pure but alone. I want her to give an emotional speech about how truly lovely she is but she is miss-understood by the surroundings.

Tension 3 (Night): Another example to add is a misunderstood lady who sells her body to earn money for her children, miss-understood as a ‘Hoe, slut’ misjudged for only wanting money for drugs, but really she’s trying to earn money to bring up her children as a single mum.

A way to show this, is a blacked out car pulls out on the side of the pathway on the street (slow motion to build tension, crabbing left to right) and when she’s out the car, (she shuts the door quick and runs around to a corner and crouches down to herself) she counts up the money and puts it in her bra and starts adjusting herself, buttoning herself up, (using the side of her hand to clean her mouth to represent dirty intercourse) 2 elderly people witness her and look at her in such disgrace. I want a zoom into her eyes, with a reflection of a jar with a bit of money/coins with a message on the front saying ‘my children, my everything’; to send out the message the money is desperately needed for her children.

The ugly book closes, and at the back it’s all beautiful... to send out a message of ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ possibly sparkling and shining.
